Cecilia Garraffo

Cecilia Garraffo is the AI Astrophysicist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) and the founder and director of the AstroAI & EarthAI Institutes at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. Her research focuses on AI-driven astrophysics and atmospheric sciences. She was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in 2024, the highest honor bestowed by the US government on early-career scientists and engineers. Cecilia previously worked on machine learning and astrophysics at Harvard’s Institute for Applied Computational Science and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO). She holds an MS in Astronomy from the National University of La Plata and a PhD in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
